Well, everyone’s favourite beer league provided a beauty of a show for BIIH fans last Sunday night. Birthdays, beers, and barnburners had BIIHers buzzing late into the night.
Game #1 started out with a hell of a barnburner between the Revs and the Warriors. Maradona and the Revs started the night hot with a short handed goal while Phil Chen was napping in the box. Warriors Cap Neil responded (as quickly as he could at his age), but Revs kept up the assault led by everyone’s favourite sleepy Russian. Will Liu also said what’s up with a couple of goals coming in fast and it’s 4-1. Neil nets one quick from new guy Mungo. A lot can be said for this Warriors team refusing to let this one die. Phil Chen was flying almost as quickly as he does when it’s time to mai dan. Phil and his bucket gets his first before Maradona and Will solidify their first hat tricks of the season. Phil Chen keeps it coming with another apple from Mungo and it’s 6-5 with 7 minutes left. In the end everyone’s favourite chatterbox Moose scored his second of the season putting the metaphorical nail in the coffin or message in the group chat…
Game #2 saw the Bears vs. the Bulls with everyone’s favourite Silver Fox’s 40th birthday celebration. The Bears did not let the fact that Noah is over the hill stop them netting a quick two right off the hop with a relentless attack from BIIH rookie Andrey Vologdin and Bob. This game was as tight as JZ wearing Richie’s ref jersey when Rob Tabone tied it 2-2 with ten minutes left. There was a gino from Jordan Forman and the birthday boy in an intense flurry of goals sicker than how BIIHers feel Monday morning. Cooker ties it up from Josh with 4 minutes left and Game #2 ends in a shootout. The birthday bull Captain’s dreams were crushed when everyone’s favourite yogurt slinger, Yogurt, beared the weight of pressure and solidified the win. 40 didn’t start out with a win for our dear Noah, but you’re always a winner in our hearts, as are all BIIHers who’ve come and gone. Lucky for us, we got a surprise visit from Kyosti’s Bulls beer that made us forget how jealous we are that he’s now basking on a beach in Bangkok.
Game #3 had the Hot Wings facing off against the Oilers in another barnburner. Oilers came out pretty quick against the defending champions, and it was back and forth against these two teams. Oilers had BIIH rookie Alex Ouellet score not only his first career BIIH goal, but also his second and third with a filthy performance. The Hot Wings really were hot, serving up more apples than Liam eats to keep the doctor away…They had a combined total of 13 assists on 9 goals with a particularly strong effort from everyone’s favourite BIIH family, Deryk, Seb and Zoe Worrall, with Zoe getting her first BIIH career goal and 3 assists with a monster performance. Captain Scott K and Lintai banged in a couple for the Oilers but the Hot Wings took this one 9-5. The Hot Wings used all those apples to celebrate with apple juice in the locker room…
Game #4 had the Expos square off against the Phantoms at everyone’s favourite pizza place Pie Squared where JZ uncharacteristically indulged in a large beer…
Now everyone’s favourite trophy, the Parking Lot Trophy. The Parking Lot was on fire again on Sunday. Through blurry videos and photos, we saw a number of BIIHers show off their true talent, singing and bromance. The Parking Lot Trophy took a little tour of Beijing starting at everyone’s favourite late night eats, Dirty Tony’s where it indulged in crispy potatoes. BIIHers then figured it was time to take their talents to a more professional venue, KTV. Some were sleepy, but most vied for the elusive trophy which saw a late morning appearance with Commish, Triple W and Con. We are just thankful they managed to carry the trophy from place to place, ensuring it made it home at the end of the night…
You won’t win the Parking Zone next week…
