A special thanks to Max Golikov, Troy Muller from the Canadian Embassy and his Russian Embassy counterpart who have worked hard to keep this tradition going. The Russian Winter Festival started with a figure skating exhibition, speed skating races, and finished with the Men's hockey game, 3x15minute periods of fun, complete with play-by-play announcing in Russian over the loud speakers.
The 2008 Annual Canada Russia game was
close. With Team Canada holding a 5-2 lead going into the third period,
Russia battled back and in the closing seconds, came close to tying the game. Like every year, the Russians grill up dozens of pounds of kabobs, had a spread of food for us all to eat and get to know one another.
