Bangkok Trip Review

BANGKOK 2005
1 win - 2 losses - tons of fun!

This year Beijing and Shanghai had united forces to take part to annual Bangkok tournament and we played under name “Shanghai Sharks”. Benzie was the organizer for Shanghai and Troy for Beijing. We agreed to have one line from Beijing and two from Shanghai. We were Troy, Goat boy, Lorin, Andrew and I from Beijing. Tom (you know who, the little French Canadian who’s pissing every one off on the ice) joined us later on tournament.

Vs. Singapore 3-1
Our first game was against Singapore and we had lousy game, but won it 3-1. Not too much to mention about the game.

Vs. Bangkok 0-3
The next day, our second game was against our beloved friends from Bangkok. Some of the guys in BKK team didn’t like that Andrew, who lives in BKK, played with us. Well, you know, he’s half Chinese. We hadn’t improved a lot from day before, but could get the points with 3-2 victory. Friday we had our third game where we were out skated by Swiss. They beat us 3-0. We ended second in our pool and next game would be semifinal in three hours against Taipei.

Vs. Taipei (The Renegade Province Team) 2-3
Between the games Sean arrived from Canada to be part of the team. With Tom and Sean in our roster we had suddenly 18 players. Lines were mixed a bit so everyone could play. We ended playing with three pair of defense and four lines of forwards. We had very close game and Goat boy tied game to 2-2 less than minute left. We started to get ready for overtime when Taipei scored the winning goal and we were out of the tournament.

Bangkok was as awesome as we expected. We had great time and we all thank Benzie and Troy for putting the team together. It was great to get to know the guys from Shanghai. Maybe we can play some games during the winter.

Guys in Bangkok did great job with organizing the tournament and everything went smoothly. Well, almost everything. Guy who was driving Zamboni managed to break the boards in one corner…
