 YOUTH ICE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

Rules & Regulations

 

-         Format: Each team is guaranteed 4 games.

§       Mite: Age 8 and under – 6 teams. Two pools of three teams, each pool has a two game Round Robin series plus one extra non-point exhibition game. The finals will be played by pairing pool A and B’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placed teams against each other.

§       Squirt: Age 9 & 10 – 4 teams. A 4-team Round Robin with 1st place versus 2nd place, and 3rd versus 4th.

§       Peewee: Age 11 to 13 – 8 teams. Two pools of four teams, each pool has a Round Robin series. The finals will be played by pairing pool A and B’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams against each other.

§       Midget: Age 14 to 18 – 4 teams. A 4-team Round Robin with 1st place versus 2nd place, and 3rd versus 4th.

 

-         This is a “Non-Hitting Tournament,” penalties will be given at the discretion of the Referee.

 

-         Game Time: Games shall be two periods of 22 minutes straight time. A two-minute break between periods will be given, and teams will not switch ends. (This will make each game a 1- hour package, allowing for 46 minutes of “game” and 14 between games for scraping, flooding, and warm up).

 

-         Icing: will not be called due to the size of the arena. As games are straight time, if a team continually ices the puck, a “Delay of Game” penalty may be called.

-         Off-Sides & Two Line Passing: Delayed Offsides will be in effect. Two Line Passing will be allowed.

 

-         Penalties: Minor – 90 Seconds straight time. Offsetting penalties will be played at full strength Major – 5 minutes straight time.

 

-         Points & Standings

·       2 points – Win

·       0 points – Loss

Ties will be decided with Sudden Death 2x2 play. Standings will be arranged in ranking of points. In the event of a tie, the team with fewest goals against will be ranked higher, then goals for. 

 

-          Insurance: Each player participating is responsible for having proper medical insurance. The organizers of this tournament are not liable for any personal injury or theft of belongings.

 

-          Skate Sharpening: Near Zamboni door. Sharpen at own risk.
