Needing an impartial referee, the league thought an Indian born ref would be fair to the Finns, Russian, Americans, Canadians, and likely even the French & Brazilian too! We are worried that the sudden growth of 7-Eleven stores in Beijing may lure him away, but so far, the big sheet of ice is more desirable than the Slurpy machine! 

Dial comes out and refs for our games, kids' tournaments and attends all of the banquets he can even with his busy schedule and family demands. Dial has organized some golf tournaments for the Canada China Business Council and also for charity. 

His coming to Beijing has been one of the best things for hockey, and is the beginning of a new epoch for the embassy.
