Jim's passing has saddened Beijing Hockey. A great inspiration and teammate, he was always eager to help by lending his experience, both on the ice and off. Diagnosed with Cancer, Jim and his wife moved to Ottawa where he battled cancer for two years. He will be sadly missed. - 2002

Even in his 60’s, Boom-Boom was out on the ice pumping in goals and creating break-away passes on the tape that younger players only dream of. One of the teams’ two Vineyard Sailors, this diplomat turned househusband became a China-wide movie star… and all in his first year in China. His major role was as Edgar Snow in his Chinese biography. His tours to Ulaan Baatar and Hong Kong showed the team where we all hope to be in our "golden years. "Go Boom-Boom!!! - 1999
